The HCI performance was more fact-based, about the life of Tan Kah Kee and how he was related to Hua Zhong (refuses to use official spelling...ha). The NHPS one, on the other hand, was about two fictitious NH boys who go on a fictitious journey to a fictitious place where they meet fictitious people and learn about stuff(thankfully, these weren't fictitious). I volunteered for a role, got trained, and...got replaced. I was going to play an old wise man but got ousted by a P6. Couldn't blame them, though, as it was a major role and P6s would be better then relatively unexperienced P5s. Still... ;(
I was unwilling to let that stop me, so when the call came out for tall people, I joined to at least participate. Turns out they needed people for the "tsunami", as they were doing it with people holding up ridiculously long blue pieces of cloth and running down the aisles. That's what I call special effects. Really. Anyway, one advantage was that we got to slack through much of the show, so we could watch it repeatedly during practices and rehearsals, and the actual performance(s). We learned many things from this experience, such as teamwork, as we had to run at about the same speed and hold the cloth high. If our speed was different, the cloth would not be straight. If we didn't hold the cloth high enough, it would droop down and possible decapitate some of the audience, seeing as we had to pass through really quickly. x_X If I got the opportunity, I would participate again as it is a chance to perform for the school and make our teachers proud.
