[Note: This post is about computer gaming in general. Thus, the individual topics will not be discussed in great detail.]
I feel that computer games are not completely bad, at the same time, I do not believe that they are all good either. I believe that as long as you play the right type of games and do not spend too much time on them, you will not come to harm.
Firstly, the types of games you play matter quite a bit. If you play gory FPS(First-Person Shooter) games a lot, you might get affected or even become "numb" to such scenes, and thus think that doing such things are fine. Despite this, some games are beneficial to players, and not just the so-called "educational games" that are out on the market. While those might help, most only touch briefly on academic concepts and are not very fun to play either. However, contrary to popular belief, games like TD(Tower Defence) and RTS(Real-Time Strategy) can help you too. Playing these games can help you improve your mind and how you strategise. While they may involve fighting, the fighting is often "clean", as it is bloodless and does not have too many realistic features. Nevertheless, this may still desensitivise us from violence and we should still limit our playing of such games.
Also, we should not spend too much time on any gaming. This is because it can be harmful to our eyes. Also, it may make us antisocial, as we spend more time on gaming than communicating with other people. Next, spending too much time on your computer and neglecting exercise can hurt your body and make you weaker. Finally, if you spend more time playing computer games than working on your studies, they may suffer.
In conclusion, I believe that gaming can be beneficial. However, you must play the right types and not play too much, or addiction might rear its ugly head!
